Overview

Marketplace Search ("the extension") is a Chrome extension that filters Facebook Marketplace search results by title keywords and distance. This policy explains what information the extension handles. The extension is not affiliated with or endorsed by Meta or Facebook.

Data Collection

The developer does not collect, receive, store, or sell any of your data. The extension has no analytics, tracking, accounts, or developer-operated servers.

What the Extension Does With Information

• Marketplace page content. On facebook.com/marketplace search pages, the extension reads each listing card's title, price, location, and photo address in your browser to decide which listings to show in its filtered results view. This content is kept in memory only while the page is open and is never stored or transmitted, except for the location text described below.
• Your settings. Your keywords, exclusions, radius, and chosen center location are saved with Chrome's storage API. If Chrome Sync is enabled, Chrome syncs these settings across your own devices through your Google account.
• Location lookups. To measure distance, the extension sends place names to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim geocoding service. These are the city names shown on listings (for example "Waterloo, ON") and the center location you type in. Nominatim returns map coordinates, which are cached locally in your browser so each place is looked up once. No other information is sent. Nominatim is operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation under its own privacy policy.

Permissions

• storage: saves your settings and cached location coordinates.
• Access to facebook.com: reads Marketplace listing cards and shows the filtered results view and filter panel.
• Access to nominatim.openstreetmap.org: looks up coordinates for place names.

Data Sharing

The extension does not sell or share your data. The only third party it contacts is OpenStreetMap Nominatim, for the location lookups described above.

Removing Your Data

Uninstalling the extension removes its stored settings and cached coordinates from your browser.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
